Description
ArchLord, one of the most anticipated MMORPGs currently in open beta service in Korea, has been secured for distribution and operation across North America and Europe by Codemasters Online Gaming.
ArchLord is the creation of NHN Games, one of the biggest Korean MMO developers and publishers. When it launches in Q3, 2006, ArchLord will deliver a unique competitive premise to MMO gamers: the opportunity to rise to become the game world’s supreme ruler. Every month, one player will take control of the world and with it the opportunity to wreak havoc on their cowering enemies as the player gains control of supreme global Archlord powers!
David Solari, Director of Codemasters Online Gaming, commented: “ArchLord is an incredibly important signing for Codemasters Online Gaming and NHN has delivered an amazing world and a unique player objective. This incredible feature, where players compete to become the Archlord and personally shape the game world, has never been seen before in any MMO. It’s sure to capture the imaginations of Western gamers and make Archlord a landmark MMO launch for 2006.”
The game’s world, Kantra, is fantastically realised with stunning visuals, created using Renderware, and the game features incredibly atmospheric in-game audio recorded by the world famous London Symphony Orchestra. ArchLord will also introduce one of the most advanced and complex PVP combat systems ever in any MMO, which utilises sprawling free battle areas and special guild battlefields that enables players to battle in fearsome guild versus guild battles.
With an ever-evolving storyline of conquest and betrayal, ArchLord presents an epic adventure in which players band together as they quest for the ancient relics of the Archons. Each relic bestows incredible power on those who possess it and when relics are combined they deliver ultimate mastery over the fundamental forces of creation for there can only be one Archlord!
“We are extremely pleased to add ArchLord to our ever growing and exciting MMO portfolio,” said Ed Relf, Head of Marketing for Codemasters Online Gaming. “ArchLord is a fresh take on the MMO genre, bringing incredible key new features and mixing them with already popular elements that appeal to both a new wave of players and established MMO gamers.”
ArchLord will launch in Q3 2006 and will be published and operated in North America and Europe by Codemasters Online Gaming, the company’s recently formed online entertainment division. Prepare for total domination with more information available on the game’s official website launching soon at www.archlordgame.com

Still going strong
As of Oct 2008 Archlord is still updating and improving. They are on Episode 3 and Episode 4
to be released in 2009. One bit of advice keep the dropped weapons they are very costly to buy. You can solo up to level 10 past that grouping would be a good idea. Good maps, click to move works best.

Its Good, But its nothing special
Fun game, graphics are pretty good, but the layout is...complicated at best, it dumps you off to grind with little story, or with little indication of what your are trying to do, how to do it and so on, quests are alright but repetitive, contols are... different, w a s d works but not very well. mainly its the overall feel, while it is addicting, it leaves you wanting somthing more, still a good game tho.
Overall id give it a 8, its a fun game, but nothing new or special about it that you havnt seen before, so, if youre looking for a fun game to play here and there, then this is your game, but if your looking for somthing special to hold your attention For hours on end, with tons of entertainment and features, a game that will have you selling your car to pay for it, and quiting your job so you can reach level 70....then keep looking, becuz this isnt that game, thats not to say it isnt fun tho.

It's Alright
Everyone has a good point graphics are good, but OMG talk about grind thats all you do. The quest gives you XP but not enough. The combat system is like RF onilne click once to attack and right click to perform special attack. I know i'm saying bad stuff about it but truth is it's hard for me to stop playing. But if you want a game like this wait for a free trial or buy RF online I think its just a little bit better even though its almost the same.

agree
i agree with you garylian, i've been playing it now since it came out.. i like the game graphics are very good and crisp... makes a change.... but in truth having to press spacebar all the time to pickup items is a real nause... as it can take sometimes a while for all items to be picked up or just some other player to run past and nick your items after you kill it. you can use the w, a, s, d buttons to move around but it is stil a nightmere, i wish there was an option to go from third person to first person view. ahh well. i like it and have already prepaid for it.. it passes the time away even if it is 30 mins.

Typical Korean MMO...Potion Spam game
This is just one of a long line of recent Korean MMOs. They are all pretty typical, and this one doesn't offer anything you haven't seen before.
The whole game is worked around spamming potions. Health is your primary concern, with mages needing to worry about mana quite a bit. Since just about every mob you kill drops a potion, you can go quite a while killing before needing them early on. Later, you will play for a half hour and then either need to kill real easy mobs, or buy a bunch more potions.
Graphics are quite good, but the UI is painful. Point n Click movement; and you had better use the space bar to pick up loot around you, as using the mouse to click-pick-up is too time consuming. Even the quest system is poor, since you can't tell which mobs you have a quest for vs. ones you completed for, because the map UI shows them the same.
Yes, it's a beta, but there is so much content missing that unless you like Korean style MMOs, don't bother.
