I've added 2 new games to the database.

Aika is a new RvR type MMO from gPotato.   They are in closed beta sign-up at this point.   It looks like it will eventually be a "free to play with an item mall" style game.

Grecca is a hardcore, no safe spot PvP game that is in the pre-beta stage.   There aren't many details available on this one yet, and the website is pretty bare bones.

Greeca will be holding a live combat   test this Sunday I believe, (nov. 1st) for all members of grecca forums.

Just letting you guys know, today is the official "early start" launch of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited for all you beta participants and V.I.P. account holders to get in the game eight days before the rest of the free accounts. It will give you a cool opportunity to get in on the new servers and start establishing a name for yourself and the server economy (some of you may know, the very beginning is the most pivotal point).

So be sure to get in on it, I will make a note here as to which server and character name I will be playing under for the rest of you to join in during the head start or after the free accounts go live.

I've gone through the entire list of games, and updates websites and game status.   There were a whole bunch of games move to cancelled, mostly due to the fact that the websites are now gone.   Others had new websites I was able to easily find, so I updated those.

If you see a game now listed as cancelled that you know of a valid website for, please let us know!   Please use the submission link instead of emailing an individual editor, so anyone can update the information.

Thanks to Scarydog for giving me two site addresses.   Actually, I didn't change those games, so they had been listed as cancelled for a while!   They have been corrected.

Announced at E3 this week (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is Square-Enix's response to the recent MMO market. With their newest online title, it is sure to be a master piece. They stated in their Q&A conference at E3 that they have taken to heart a lot of the suggestions and improvements (much needed) and are applying them to this title.

Massive scale servers (think EVE), single-player/group/raid content, single/group leveling and so much more!

The best part I have heard thus far is they are eliminating the PlayOnline system from this title, to thousands or current and former players rejoice!

They have also taken care to state that though the races (well some) may be similar to Final Fantasy XI, this game is not a sequel. One more thing, the screen shots in the game listing are taken directly from the engine that runs the game. MAXIMUM quality there!

So check it out. I will see you all in the Beta, when they announce the official date.

StarCraft II Beta Test Opt-in
The StarCraft II beta-test period is coming in the months ahead! If you'd like a chance to participate, now's the time to let us know. Simply go to the "Beta Profile Settings" page in Battle.net account management to go through the new beta opt-in process and upload a snapshot of your system specs. During this process, you'll also have the opportunity to opt in to future betas for other Blizzard Entertainment games. Please note that even if you've opted in to our betas previously, you'll need to complete this new process and upload your current system specs to have a chance to be invited.

For more information, see the FAQ -- or create a Battle.net account to opt in now. If you have an unused beta code from BlizzCon 2008 or WWI 2008, visit this site to enter your code.

Reminiscent of Earth and Beyond with a sharper looking style of play then EVE Online, Black Prophecy along with Jumpgate: Evolution look like they are going to be Sci-Fi MMO winners in 2009.

I recently received word that invites are in fact going out for these ones, make sure and check them out on the game list and sign up!

2009 Sci-Fi Titles:

Black Prophecy
Jumpgate: Evolution
Celetania
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Starcraft 2
Freaky Creatures

The free to play MMO "Runes of Magic" has been added to the game list.   The game is available in both English and German.

For those interested in trying this one out, be prepared to download either via torrent or using any browser other than Internet Explorer.   The file's size is too large for IE to allow.

Here's hoping you all have a nice holiday season!

The game's entry was updated to reflect the fact that the game is in closed beta 2 phase.

If you did the early sign-up by joining their forums like I did, know that your account is probably set up for "no beta".   Mine was.   A few moments of editing my account and clicking a box put me back in the beta queue.

Sasco EDIT: Don't forget to check your account to add your Dxdiag.xml

Okay, so I know I was mentioning recently about click-to-move titles not being the latest and greatest in the MMO market today but there are a few exceptions, like Sword of the New World (Granado Espada for those who know it best) and a few others worth playing... because they are free!

This is another one of those games, cute like Pristontale and Ragnarok but with great combat and vivid spell effects. So if you are into those anime style games, this one should be on your list to take a look at next.

Currently in closed beta. Freaky Creatures looks like a promising fighter type game where you design and mutate your own "freaky" creature and battle it out online with other players. This certainly looks like it could be a lot of fun so check out the game page added today and have a more detailed look at the site below!

Hello BetaWatchers! I just wanted to take a moment to define something for the community in regards to submissions. As the BW team moves forward to a new layout for the website (due later this year) I wanted to take this opportunity to inform everyone of what we would like to see in the future with submissions.

Obviously the editors have their hands full most of the time so you are most certainly our eyes and ears on the interwebz . When submitting information regarding new betas to the website please make sure to submit it just once and with as much information as possible.

Take the time to make sure you enter the complete URL for your submissions including any pretexts like "http://" and so on so that we may quickly review them and post them for everyone to see.

Also, please be aware that as we move forward we will begin to provide more in-depth information about our games we list as well as BW staff reviews and feedback. That being said, we will be refining our lists to accommodate the titles in an easy to understand system.

So you will likely see less and less of those good old, low budget "click-to-move" (no offense to the fams of these titles) games and start seeing titles with higher quality and investigated detail for our team (or at least from me) in order to provide you with more information at a faster pace and prevent anyone from having to do any un-needed research.

That is our job right?

So I would like to say thank you to our active community members, once again remind you to be mindful when submitting information for the editors to review and get ready for the BetaWatcher.com of the future.

Also, on a more personal note; If you would like to submit titles to me personally or have any particular title (old or new) that you would like me to consider for an in depth review you are welcome to do so directly. Just send me an email to Nimbis(at)betawatcher.com and I will look it over. Hey, you can even send an email to say hello and tell me your experiences with the BW site and it's editors if you'd like...

I look forward to hearing from you all and happy gaming!

Recently announced on Blizzard Entertainment's official website is the latest addition to the Diablo franchise! That's right kiddies, Diablo III!

Also, late coming, but since we are adding in the Blizzard titles at this time we will go ahead and add in StarCraft 2 as well.

In a third addition of news, Blizzard is now allowing active subscribers of World of Warcraft to "Opt In" to their upcoming BETA for the expansion Wrath of the Lich King.

Thanks everyone for all the submissions and updates on these titles! Hopefully we can get some of you in!

Until then.

Alright here's the first wave of updates I got for you today, I'll be updating the game page as I go along.

First off we got Warrior Epic, an MMORPG that recently went into Closed Beta. The game isn't too graphics intensive, so people who want to game with some lower end computer should take a shot at signing up to their website, then doing the "Apply for CB" button in your user control on their website: http://www.warriorepic.com/playnow.aspx
Thanks to Crake for the first Headsup on that one!

Next we got Wizard 101 that just entered Open Beta. Ok, I really have no idea what to call this, so MMORPG is going to work. It's mainly focused for teens and younger audiences, but to be honest I am going to give this one a quick look. From what I gather looks like you create a wizard apprentice and you work your way through the Wizard school here doing quests and such to tone your magic skills. I'll have to do a bit more in-depth digging on this one but it does look a little interesting to me. https://www.wizard101.com/
Thanks to Femur Jones for this!

Mythwar2 is a free MMORPG That entered Open Beta on June 26th, looks kinda like one of those standard cookie cutter MMO's but I havn't been able to spend much time on this one digging through the site. The download and signup pages are on their home page here http://mw2.igg.com/main.php
And for this you can thank Darkkol

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. We've all been a bit bogged down with Real World issues, but I am going to put a bit of time aside myself to help catch up on all the user submitted news. We at Beta-Watchers really appreciate all your help in bringing us the scoop from all over the web on all of these awesome new Betas starting up. I know alot of you might be frustrated that the information you sent us two weeks ago seems like it hasnt even been noticed, and we're working on it. Again, sorry for all the delays and lack of updated but rest assured, Beta Watchers will be back to normal running speed before you know it.

Just got an Email about 21 hours ago from the time of this posting that Jumpgate Evolution has started beta Signup. Here's the details on how to sign up from the email itself. Good luck to you all!

The first step to get signed up to Beta and registered for the forums is to first visit the new Beta sign-up form and follow these simple steps:

      1. Click the "Beta" navigation button and then click on the "Sign up to Beta" sub-navigation button. This will first take you to the CodeM registration form which will help you submit your Beta application and use the Jumpgate Evolution forums. Or Simply use this link - http://www.jumpgateevolution.com/beta_signup.php
      2. If you have an existing CodeM account you can enter your username (this is the e-mail address used for signing up) and password in the fields provided. If you don't already have a CodeM account then you can fill in all of the registration fields to create one. Once you have created an account you will need to activate it via an activation link sent to the e-mail address you provided (you should open a new internet browser window to do this) – this e-mail will also provide you with your login details.
      3. Once you've registered for CodeM you can proceed to Beta sign-up: http://www.jumpgateevolution.com/Beta_signup.php   and fill in the remaining Beta sign-up fields.
      4. Now that is done and you have successfully signed up to Beta, you will want to login to the forums. You can access the new Jumpgate Evolution forums here - http://community.codemasters.com/forum/forumdispla y.php?f=930.   Again, you will use your email address as your login. After logging in, you will need to choose your forum screen name. We realize that some of you might need to choose a different forum username than you had used previously on the old forums. If there are any problems in this process please contact us at Jumpgate@codemasters.com. Someone will be able to address your concerns as soon as possible.

Seemed a little confusing to me at first but come on, its only 4 steps, right?

What I can assume to be a fan-made online rendition of Bomberman is set to debut in China and Europe within two weeks, while USA residents will have to wait for six weeks to get a taste of what Bomberman would be like online. Of course, if people donate, the game will be pushed forward towards an earlier release. For those of you that are interested, check out the site below. Since I am not entirely certain there will be a beta, I am not going to add it to the list of games, but I still figured it to be a news-worthy item, considering the history of Bomberman, and there's still a chance it will be tested publicly.
